Tom and his team at Hillside are amazing. We're new to the area and needed to find a reliable place to service our cars. We've used them for smaller jobs over the last couple years, but had our brakes and battery replaced today. They did it quickly and efficiently and at a fair price - and we trust their judgment. Hillside is the best. We have a fleet of cars that Tom and his team maintain for us. They are not only very responsive but skilled and fair too. We wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

I've gotten my car inspection here for the last 3 yrs. Great place. A lot of people come here. It's perfectly located right next door to Pat's Deli. Get a bite to eat while you wait. The owner is very nice. I believe he owns the school bus lot across the street. We always socialize when I'm there but I cant remember his name. Really tall man, always hands on; either directing cars when it gets crowded or pumping gas for the full service area.

Tom is the most honest master-auto mechanic I have come across in my 53 years of having my vehicles maintained. Hillside is doing all my work for about 35 years. They are so 100% honest, it could be almost called criminal. Over the years, I have told Tom a few times, that he should charge more, being worth it for his honesty. Some other garages may seem to charge less, but I had seen lots of them lying about repairs needed. Never ever with Tom. I am retired Electrical Contractor.

I am a 4th year medical student at NYMC (New York Medical College), which is a couple of miles from Hillside Service Center. I have been coming to this place since my first year for anything from oil changes to motor mounts changes and other minor repairs. I often can get my car in the morning I call and pick it up at the end of the day. They often give me a ride back to school during the morning, but then I ask a ride to a friend to pick up the car.

I don't know much about mechanics but I know how much I paid in CA for similar services and it's on par, if not cheaper. The owner can come across as rough around the edges on the phone initially, but he is a sweetheart and a very hard worker. He always tries to find ways to make it cheaper for me because he knows I am a student.

My car is Ford Focus 2004 and has not required any major repairs since I moved to the east coast 3 years ago (shipped it here), despite the mercurial weather and snow. I really think it's because of their excellent service. In sum, I highly recommend them.

I have been getting car inspected and my oil changed here for two years and find Tom and his crew very friendly, helpful and reasonable. They charge fair prices (sometimes I'm surprised they don't charge more!) and they never have surprise add-on costs. Furthermore, they let you know if they saw something but always tell you how urgent it is and if it can wait, so you never feel pressured to fix something right away.

I am now writing this review because of how awesome they were when my car had a problem and needed more than an oil change and inspection. My car had multiple problems (trouble starting, intermittent stalling at low speeds, broken clock and broken window) and I had taken it to a garage in the city (because I live there) where I was told a bunch of things needed replacing and they kept my car for three days but still hadn't fixed it when I gave up, paid the garage for "diagnostics" (even though nothing was fixed) and took my car out of there and brought it up to Tom hoping he could help. He was awesome. Fixed it in one day and said the problems were much simpler than the guys in the city had told me. He diagnosed the problems AND FIXED them for only $30 more than the guys in the city charged me for just looking at my car. He was very nice and reasonable. I left with my car driving smoother than ever and no longer worrying that it could break down. I'm really happy and highly recommend Tom and the Hillside crew.

I was interested in buying a car from Craigslist but wanted a pre-purchase inspection. Tommy said I could come in any time, so I did, he took the car in right away, and did a pre-purchase inspection for a really reasonable price. He is honest, knowledgable, informative, and helped me from making a big mistake. I am very pleased with the prompt, friendly service and highly recommend him.

Tom is the man. He takes care of my baby, I only trust it to him.

Tommy is an honest mechanic and will never steer you wrong. He's so honest one time I had a problem with my exhaust and he wouldn't fix it because he said the dealership was still responsible as it was under warranty and that saved me $800. Not many mechanics are that honest.

These are the nicest guys around. I've never enjoyed getting gas before but this place is just a pleasure!

Hillside is a trustworthy, reliable shop. Tom Stuart and his team will tell you what needs fixing, what can wait, and what you don't need. This is as good a garage as you'll find anywhere. For all the times I took my car here, they never misdiagnosed a problem or didn't catch something that could have been a huge problem if not addressed quickly. I've found them to be highly ethical, extremely competent, and truly diligent in finding the solution to problems that seem impossible to solve.

I have been a customer for years. Tom was recommended by a transmission shop for a tune-up. He is honest, straight forward and reliable. In the past he has told me when it was time to get rid of a vehicle and when an auto dealer was not being honest (which never happens) about supposed issues they identified. He and his team can handle most anything and he will give you a fair appraisal of the issue(s) and the costs and timelines to fix. It is rare to find a mechanic and shop that consistently provide top quality work and customer service at a reasonable rate.

Tommy is honest and does great work which is hard to find in a mechanic, he was able to diagnose a problem in my wife's car, which turned out to be a defective engine mount where others said it was the wheel bearings, will be taking my cars to him in the future.

Cars are always ready on time and never any additional charges in quoted work, quite the opposite they look out for your vehicles preventive maintenance and give us advanced warning letting us know next oil change we will need new tires or wipers etc. Absolutely recommend this service station.

Tom is HIGHLY recommended. I've used him for inspections, oil changes and a variety of repairs, including axle replacements, brake work and engine diagnostics & repair and he is very solid, honest and appropriate always with charging. I've been using him for over 20 years and will continue.

Owner Tom Stuart runs a very tight ship - they are always busy and service is quick, efficient and thorough. During the week you can pick your car up until 10pm, as it also a gas station and has an attendant on duty. It can be extremely difficult to find a reliable repair shop, especially when you know very little about cars yourself, but I have had nothing but good experiences with this shop.
